Hi again --
For those of you especially interested in Linux clusters for
Bioinformatics, you may be interested in attending the following SGI
Bioinformatics Workshop at the ISMB conference in San Diego this month.
-- Haruna :)
SGI invites you to our 5th Annual Bioinformatics Workshop to be held
the ISMB'00 Conference in San Diego on August 20, 2000.
Scalable Computing for Bioinformatics: Shared Memory and Distributed
To accommodate the high-volume computations in Bioinformatics, advances
needed in both computer algorithms and computer hardware. This workshop
focuses on the efficiencies and cost savings that have been achieved in
LINUX-based clusters, on the needs for both shared memory and
computing environments and on new bioinformatics EST clustering
-- "Incyte Genomics' LINUX data processing environment achieves
high-efficiencies for Bioinformatics computations"
- Stu Jackson, Bioinformatics Production Manager, Incyte Genomics
-- "Approaches to high performance clustering of biological sequence
that is huge, incomplete and very disparate in, quality"
- Winston Hide, Ph.D., Director, South African National
-- "Building optimal computing environments for Bioinformatics and
Computational Chemistry with shared memory and distributed computing
- Joseph Landman, Ph.D., SGI Applications Engineer
Sunday, Aug 20th, 2000
7-9 pm Main Theater, Price Center
