This week sees the launch of a new World-Wide Web (WWW) site on the
Internet which seeks to provide Europeans with clear and concise
information on all aspects of allergy and asthma. The site was set up by
the European Federation of Asthma and Allergy Associations (EFA), as part
of their mission to provide more and better information to asthma and
allergy sufferers in Europe. Of the various elements which comprise the
EFAnet website, there are special sections devoted to children and
teenagers, groups among whom asthma is rising rapidly.

The EFAnet site, which can be found at http://www.efanet.org, gives
objective and balanced information for people with asthma and allergy in
Europe. A lot of the current asthma and allergy sites operate from the US,
where historically the treatment of asthma has been different from that in
Europe. There are separate sections on asthma and allergy, frequently asked
questions (FAQs), latest news, and areas devoted to children and teenagers.

People who visit the site can e-mail questions to EFA which can then be
added to the FAQs thereby continuously expanding and updating the
information on the site. The site itself has a number of clever features
such as interactive rooms where people can identify potential triggers for
their asthma or allergy.

General questions about the launch site can be sent to Chris Nial
(chris at unity.co.uk).
