Oh yes,

A good example of strange numbers of chromosomes in mammalian cells
occurs in some tumor cells... they often are polyploid for certain chromosomes that 
usually carry oncogenes or other relevent genes in the development of that cancer.

many human cultured cell lines are like this ex. HeLa cells
