Chromosome 12 question

Our son, 3 years old, who is not talking, has first been diagnosed
with a deficiency of the autism range, then there was a question of
brain damage (The brain scan shows that this is not the case), and the
latest news is that some part of his 12th chromosome might be missing.
We are total dummies in genetics and would like to understand what
this actually means in none technical terms, and whether his not
talking might have anything to do with this and what the impact on his
future could be.
Thanks in advance
