Help: dyes for staining hydrocarbon oxidisers

Hi,

Can anyone help with info in which dyes are found in fuels and if they
could be used in staining micro-organisms (hydrocarbon-oxidisers).

Dyes are added e.g. to diesel to indicate it is tax exempt, as in
agriculture, transport, etc. I am remediating a diesel contaminated
site and thought that I might use a dye in the diesel to stain the
bugs as they grow.

Any thoughts appreciated.
