Well, THAT sounds extreme. An example of non-irrelevance of a single attached
cell would be a single attached cell with gene expression switched to the
"attached expression pattern" with a possible consequence being the ability
to stimulate (adjacent) attachment of additional cells of either the same or a
different species.
