Just a brief message to say that we are delighted by the rapid and numerous
responses to "Plants & Soil, Bulletin No. 1."
For those of you who have proposed - or are going to propose -specific
hypotheses about the role of biofilms relative the the 3 questions posed in
Bulletin No. 1: please remember that we are interested in how biofilms
mediate or intervene in these processes. Some of the hypotheses already
proposed concerned microbial ecology in general and could be valid for
bacterial cells outside of biofilms ("solitary") as well as those within
biofilms. Please try to keep this dichotomy (in vs. out) in mind.
