Career references

I am posting this message for a friend. 

He is 33 years old.
He has got an education in medicine (4 years)
 computer sciences
(2 years), music (13 years of flute).
His working experience is the following:
    - medical social work at the Geneva Hospital (2 years),
    - high-school teaching in math, physics, etc (2 years),
    - lighting technician at the Geneva Opera House (5 years),
    - programmer/analyst on micro-computers (1 year).

He is now trying to find out new opportunities in jobs and/or
education. His interests are: information, communication, computers and 
medicine, media, health care, ...

Has anyone been in a similar situation (or knows someone) and can give
an advice on to proceed: what kind of jobs to look for, what kind of
schools to apply to (for example: management school, to find a management
position in a biotechnology company), what people to talk with, etc?
