Amnioscentesis, chromosone abnormalities

My wife is pregnant, and we had an amnioscentesis test.  We received 
a call Friday that 15 cells are perfect but that 6 cells (including 
chromosone 20) are abnormal - some changes they have never seen before.
I would appreciate a lay person's reference describing the effects of
each of the chromosones and, in particular, chromosone 20.  Thanks.
