Does anyone out there know whether it is possible to inspect
the current version of the EC (Enzyme Commision) numbers and names
through electronic means? - or is it only available as a printed book?
Is it possible to download EC-data from some source?

The EC data can be found in the ENZYME database.  At genbank.bio.net 
it is in the pub/db/enzyme directory as enzyme.dat.
