		     BMC at Uppsala leaves BIOSCI

The BIOSCI reorganization is progressing, albeit slowly. The BIOSCI
node at the University of Uppsala is dropping out of the distribution
system and will be replaced by a new European site to be announced
later. I wish to express my sincere thanks to Mats Sundvall at BMC
who was instrumental in establishing the whole range of BIOSCI
newsgroups in Europe. BMC was the first European site that
distributed the complete range of BIOSCI newsgroups as separate
mailing lists. Most sites in Scandanavia have adopted USENET news
software, but GenBank is temporarily handling the small number of
e-mail subscriptions which remained at BMC. Please discontinue the
use of the BIOSCI e-mail addresses at There remain three
BIOSCI nodes at GenBank, Daresbury, and IRLEARN. Work continues on
establishing NNTP instead of mail as the distribution mechanism
between GenBank and Daresbury.

The BIOSCI information sheet has been broken up into three parts, one
each for users at GenBank, Daresbury, and IRLEARN. E-mail subscribers
will see only the version customized for their particular BIOSCI
distribution site. USENET users will see the version posted at
GenBank. Please send any suggestions for further improvements to any
of the versions of the information sheet to biosci at
