ology=study of

Photobiology is a "study" of how light interacts with various life forms.
 This would include "photoperiodism" in plants (which triggers differing
types of growth, such as flowering and vegetative growth, on many plant
species).

A general plant physiology textbook would be a good place to begin. 
Plant physiologist have done some considerable work on this topic.
