Entomological Taxonomy Databases?

There are some outstanding plant taxonomy databases out there,
but is there a site where I could find lists of Nearctic and
Palearctic Lepidoptera?

I'd use them in my PC, in a database application for making
field observations.

Could somebody give an overview, what is the overall status of 
entomological on-line databases in internet.
