Entomological Taxonomy Databases?

There are some outstanding plant taxonomy databases available through
the network, but are there sites where I could find lists of Nearctic
and Palearctic Lepidoptera?

I'd use them in my PC, in a database application to manage
field observations

Could someone also give an overview, what is the overall status of
entomological on-line databases in the internet.
