British Biological Sciences Funding Day
Wednesday 29th June 1994, University of Leicester, UK
For those concerned with biological sciences it is often difficult to keep
up to date with the diverse sources of funding available for research,
development, and training in both the academic and commercial sectors.
1994 is a particularly significant year, in that it will see the rearrangement
of the Research Councils and the launch, by the European Union, of the Fourth
Framework Programme with the subsequent wealth of new initiatives. This one
day seminar therefore provides the chance to both review the multiplicity of
existing funding opportunities available and also learn more about programmes
on the horizon. All presentations will be specifically focused on the
biological sciences and time will be set aside for queries and discussion
in order to optimise benefits for participants.
In particular the event will:
* Offer an update on the key funding opportunities available
(Including: European Commission, Research Councils, MAFF, DTI, Royal
Society and the Wellcome Trust)
* enable participants to meet and have face to face discussions with
those responsible for the various initiatives.
* provide additional background information on a wide range of other
funding sources not covered in the seminar programme.
* Offer advice and guidelines on how successful proposals may be
achieved.
