Andrew Saul asks about vitamin D and UV light in fish.
I doubt that UV irradiation plays a role in fish due to the very short
distance before UV is absorbed by water. Since other wavelengths are also
rapidly attenuated, I doubt whether any light-requiring processes would occur
except possibly in those fish right at the water surface.
