mitochondria, plastids and DNA inheritance

Many plants ( I seem to remember about 30% of species) exhibit biparental
inheritance of organelle genomes.  This info is in texts.  See for example
Lewin, Genes V, p.734.
The term plastid is a general term covering a variety of organelles
derived from proplastids.  Plastids include chloroplasts, chromoplasts,
amyloplasts, etc.
