If you are interested in fitting a curve to a series of data
points in a graph, this can be done using the "SMOOTH" fuction in
Systat. There are many ways you can ask Systat to produce a
smooth line through your data points:
DWLS (distance weighted least squates
INVERSE (inverse squared distance)
KERNAL
LINEAR
lOG
lOWESS
NEXPO
NORMAL
POLY
POWER
QUAD (Quadratic smoothing)
SPLINE
AND STEP
If you are not familiar with it already, Systat is not that
friendly of a package to use. I am currently using a DOS
version in which you can only import particular types of data
files (e.g. Lotus 123). There is a windows version available in
which you can import Excel files as well.
