Venlafaxine (Effexor) is a new antidepressant which is now being marketed
by Wyeth-Ayerst. I know little about the drug, but have seen ads and
patient information sheets on it. It inhibits re-uptake of both
serotonin and norepinephrine, with low affinities for M1, H1, and alpha and
beta adrenergic receptors. It has "weak" DA reuptake inhibition. It has
"low" potential for drug interaction. It's main side effects are
hypertension (!), nausea, somnolence, dry mouth, dizziness, constipation,
nervousness, sweating, anorexia, and abnormal ejaculation/orgasm.

I have not yet used it, so can't add much more.
