This message is directed at prospective graduate students in
the biological sciences, biology teachers, and college
advisors.
In order to promote and publicize the consolidation of
several graduate programs in the molecular biosciences, we at
Rutgers - The State University of New Jersey, and UMDNJ
(University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey) have
created an informative computer program that is available for
the asking.
This program allows users to read about the research
interests of more than 120 faculty members working at
Rutgers/UMDNJ in the areas of biochemistry, microbiology,
molecular biology, biotechnology, molecular genetics,
macromolecular structure, computational molecular biology,
molecular virology, molecular biophysics, and protein
engineering. It also describes some of the facilities
available to students at the two universities; informs
prospective applicants of the history and nature of the
universities and their graduate programs; and provides
application information.
Users can print out much of this material. They can also
access information via key word searches. In addition, there
is a brief help facility, but the program is largely self-
explanatory.
The program runs only on Macintosh computers and is available
via the Internet as a binhexed, self-extracting archive that
can be obtained by anonymous ftp from mbcl.rutgers.edu in the
grad-program directory (download the file MBS.sea-hqx).
Interested parties can also obtain a copy of the program on a
disk by writing to:
