Ideas concerning 1st year animal physio lab?

Hello, 
	I was wondering if any of you out there have any good ideas 
appropriate for a first year animal physiology lab? Our university is 
changing courses around and has introduced a first year animal physio lab. A 
friend of mine is trying to get the job and needs bright ideas to come up 
with. What type of lab projects do you know of at your university that are 
interesting? Your help is appreciated.
