Someone asked a question on alt.binaries.clip-art about generic
clipart a couple of days ago - one reply is posted below. I haven't
checked out any of these sites, so I can't say whether there is any
mbiol/gentics stuff there, but it's worth a look.

Here's the post I saved from alt.binaries.clip-art:

This is about the 10th request for a clipart archive I've seen this
week. (Not picking on you Howard)

Is anyone still keeping up (or have copies of the old) informal
faq? there were a bunch of sites listed there.

some sites I've heard about are
ccu1.auckland.ac.nz architecture/Textures
pature.ecn.purdue.edu /pub/almanac/clipart
photo1.si.edu /images/gif89a
              /images/catalogs
              /images/jpeg
sumex-aim.stanford.edu /info-mac/grf
                       /pict/tiff
Sunsite.unc.edu /pub/academic/medicine/mac-medical/art
wuarchive.wustl.edu /archive/multimedia/images/gif
                    /mirros/systems/msdos/msdos/deskpub

and I think that oak.oakland.edu has an image subdirectory.
