We were hiking in a city park in Columbus; and we made two sightings of
mourning cloaks. City park or not, it is still a pretty isolated place.
A surprising number of wildflowers are reasserting themselves there. I
saw some bloodroot poking up among those raggedy mint like plants. Both times,
they were in pairs. How common are these butterflies? Could anyone sort
of summarize their habits?
