leptin

Has anyone heard of a protein which increases fat metabolism eg. 
oxidation of fatty acids called "leptin"?? (may be a trade name). There 
was a segment on ABC last week dealing with this protein in reference 
to animal studies where this protein was injected into obese mice which 
promptly lost large amounts of weight (presumably fat), in a short 
time. If any one has encountered this protein I would be greatful to be 
directed to a referencing source (none detected in medline).
