Surgury on eyes. To correct short sightedness.

     This request may not reaally be appropriate here, but, would someone 
     please point me in the direction of references concerning the 
     effectiveness of various types of surgury to correct short 
     sightedness.
     
     I am considering getting this done, but, would like some information
