Field Biology

I am a senior in high school thinking about studying Field Biology in the 
future.  Can anyone tell me more about the field?  Do I have to have some 
specific background like working in a Zoo to go into this field?  What 
colleges offer the best preparation for this area?  Thank you in advance for
