Vitamin K -- info please

I am attempting to find out the function of vitamin K (on a molecular level) in 
the body.  I have looked at several Biochemistry tests for information.  Most 
of these sources suggest little is known about vitamin K's molecular functions 
in the body.  Most also sugges that there are several types of Vitamin K.  
Could someone please enlighten me?  I am also wondering as to how many type of
