Friends of mine have a four month old baby that was
recently diagnosed with a genetic deformity of the spine called
Hemi-Vertebrae. Their doctor gave them very little information
on the condition and said that one of three things could happen:
	1. The condition won't affect anything and she will grow
up normally.
	2. They will have to operate and fuse some of the bones
in her spine together.
	3. Her spinal cord will adhere to the bones in her spine
and as she grows her spinal cord will be pulled apart and she'll
be paralyzed from the waist down.

Her parents were told that all they could do was sit back
and wait for one of the above to happen. They would like more
information on the condition itself, on any research on the
subject or on any possible treatments.

If you know anything about this could you please post
your replies to the newsgroup or to me at dadracas at acs.ucalgary.ca

Thanks in advance for your help.
