RT-PCR problem

Hi:

I'm looking for help here. 

I want to know usu. in your experiments, how long a cDNA you can make
useing an RT-PCR kit from mammalian poly(A)+ RNA pool? And do you know a
quick & cheap way to determine the roughly lenghth, except PCR? Or, do you
have any tips to make the reverse transcription reaction more preferable,
I mean, making a longer, complete cDNA? Let's suppose the mRNA pool has no
problem.
