Question--What happens to toxins excreted by liver

I'm asking this on behalf of my son, who is not able to access the Net at 
this time (or a library).

The liver excretes toxins into the small intestine.  Correct?  Why are 
those toxins not reabsorbed by the small and large intestine?  Please 
e-mail me directly, as I rarely have time to access all of the
