In article <3289FF22.3973 at pt.cyanamid.com>, "S. Silverman" <silvermans at pt.cyanamid.com> says:
>A few years ago I remember reading an article (Nature?) on mimicry in
>the Viceroy butterfly, I believe. The gist was that one did not need to
>invoke mimicry of the Monarch, as the Viceroy was distateful to some
>birds. Anyone remember the reference?

Steven Jay Gould wrote a nice essay on this one...but i don't know
which of his books contains that essay...all i can tell you is it's
NOT Bully For Brontosaurus or Hen's Teeth and Horse's Toes.

Hope this helps! :)
