Ion-free water for human consumption?

Hmmm, Well I am ashamed to say that this is the first time I've heard of
deionized water being bad for you. Especially since I've been drinking the
stuff for the last 4 years (the tap H2O is so bad that I grab DI water from
the lab!) My guess is that other food taken in at the same time has enough
ions in it to supply all you may need. Anyway, no ill effects so far
(twitch, twitch).
