Zinc deficiency in prem babies

Does anybody know anything about zinc deficiency in humans, particularly in babies. What role does zinc 
play in metabolism (transcription and antioxidants) and in growth and development (growth generally, skin 
and membranes. What causes deficiency, how long do symptoms last following treatment. what is normal 
treatment, what long term effects if any?

There seems to be a shortage of information in the UK on this. Please help if possible
