                            POSTDOC Position

The Institute for Algorithms and Scientific Computing at GMD - German
National Research Center for Information Technology is performing research
on computational molecular biology. We are investigating problems in
biomolecular sequence alignment, protein structure analysis and prediction,
and biomolecular docking. For information on this work, see URL :

We are looking for a

                             POSTDOC (2 years)

who will be engaged in projects on sequence and structure alignment,
protein structure prediction, model building, genome analysis, gene
expression profile analysis, and function prediction of biomolecules  with
the final goal of identifying useful targets for biological models and
experiments.

Applicants should have a doctorate in computer science, molecular biology,
or a similar field, with a specialization in computational molecular
biology. Previous experience with problems involving the analysis of
genomic and protein sequences and structures is beneficial and may be
necessary.

We can offer the opportunity to work on exciting problems in an open-minded
interdisciplinary environment. Further qualification towards the
habilitation (degree for the German univeristy career) is part of the setup
of this position. The salary is according to the tariff BAT IIa of the
German public service tariff system. The employment can commence as early
as possible.
