The BIONET groups are the only place were the hit list for this spam could
have been collected.  That the Berkeley system could have been used for this
means that the problem of unsolicited commericial advertising on the net is
not fully appreciated at Berkeley, and that there is not a sufficiently
strong policy against doing it in place.  

This trend is a serious problem.  It won't go away by ignoring it.  Opt-out
remove commands do not make it acceptable.  If you received the Berkeley spam
I invite you to send a protest to postmaster at berkeley.edu.  If enough people
protest they will do something.
