It is worthy of note that (1) most of the significant decisions affecting
the survival of H. sapiens are being made by teenagers...many with little or
no education or training...
And...(2) by definition, one-half of the total population is below average
in intelligence [whatever that is]...
Still...this has always been so...and we are still adapting to the improved
standard of living...technological advances...and improved language and
communication skills...
There is, then...on balance... room for a cautious optimism...should you
meet a friend who is depressed and thinking of suicide...tell them that this
old man on the internet said that you don't have to do it...there is a
way...hang in there...it's not that serious...
With warm regards,
Ralph Gainey

Briskly, Algernon...but with a soft tread...for yon sleep the Men of
Reason...if they espy one with compassion and understanding, all our
forgiveness will not prevail against the shame, ridicule and abuse they will
heap upon us in defense of their territory...they are hard of heart, and
notoriously cruel...
