RFI on muscle mechanism

Hi,
I would like to know more about the detailed mechanism which makes
muscles work (i.e. how their individual cells can contract
themselves). I had some biology courses at school and I am a (French)
engineer working in computer technology, so I have a minimum
scientific/technological background. Where should I look for? Any
advice?
