DNA Sequencing Specialist Wanted

LABORATORY SPECIALIST SENIOR  (7220M)  Veterinary Medicine Experiment 
Station   
Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University
Normal Starting Pay:  $24,337  (Grade 9)

Will coordinate and manage activities in the University DNA Sequencing 
Facility, including sample preparation, loading and running automated DNA 
sequencer.  Maintains budget and purchases supplies; interacts with 
facility users; maintains equipment; supervises technical staff and wage 
personnel; acquires, reviews and analyzes data; and generates reports. 
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Degree in biological sciences or equivalent training 
and experience; experience with DNA sequencing using automated DNA 
sequencing apparatus; computer experience; ability to prioritize and 
coordinate activities; supervisory skills; excellent interpersonal skills. 
WITH PREFERENCE GIVEN FOR: Masters degree in biological sciences; 
knowledge in the use of thermocyclers to generate labeled DNA 
oligonucleotides.  FULL-TIME POSITION.  Position is renewed yearly.
