The First Glycosciences Towns Meeting (GTM) will be held on 15-17 Dec
1998

The Glycoscience Web Resources Consortium is pleased to invite you to
the 
1. Glycosciences Towns Meeting
The meeting is intended to be a focus for glycoscientists and to
introduce those 
unfamiliar with the technology to web lectures, virtual conferencing,
and 
the glycoscience resources that are available online. GTM98 provides
an 
opportunity for glycoscientists to meet and  discuss topics of mutual
interest
and to promote interaction through the medium of the Internet.

The meeting will last for 3 days with lectures followed by discussions
and
plenty of time for virtual get-togethers and brain storming in the
field of
glycosciences.

The following speakers have agreed to present an online lecture and
the
lectures are scheduled as follows:

Dec. 15th (Tue)

14:00 Ravi Kartha - (University of St.Andrews, Scotland, UK)

Iodine, a Versatile Reagent in Carbohydrate Chemistry;

15:30 Hiroki Shimizu - (University of St.Andrews, Scotland, UK)

Synthesis and Application of 13C-Enriched Saccharides in Studies on
Protein-Carbohydrate Recognition.


Dec. 16th (Wed)

14:00 Dr Clare Sansom - (Birkbeck College, University of London, UK) 
 / Dr David Ashford  - (University of York, UK)

Networks, Conferences & Databases: Glycosciences on the Internet

15:30 General open discussion led by members of the Glycosciences Web
Resources Consortium (co-chairs: Drs. Clare Sansom & David Ashford)


Dec 17th (Thurs) 

14:00 Oded Shoseyov (Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Israel)

Cellulose binding domain, increases biomass and polysaccharide
biosynthesis in transgenic plants.
