detection of small differences in dna fragment sizes

I guess Metaphor (FMC) agarose (1 %) would give resolution for about 500
bp fragments which is comparable to 8% PAGE gel. A higher %age (about
3.5-4%) would resolve ~5-20 bp differences (at LMW level).
