Research Assistant Professor position available. Applicant will
conduct research in insect biochemistry and molecular biology including
collaborative research on insect chitin metabolism and cuticle
physiology. Serve as primary investigator (PI) and co-PI or
collaborator on projects supported by extramural grants. Characterize
genes of chitin and cuticle metabolism, and determine functions using
RNA interference methodology and enzyme activity assays. Conduct
molecular genetic and functional analyses of insect developmental
hormones and enzymes. Provide guidance to graduate students and
participate in supervising daily operations of the laboratory. Ph.D. or
equivalent and postdoctoral experience in Biology, Genetics,
Biochemistry, or Entomology required. Candidate must have a
demonstrated knowledge of insect development, insect cuticle
biochemistry and metabolism, and RNA interference methodology;
demonstrated ability with RNA interference, western blotting,
microinjection and molecular cloning as well as enzyme purification and
kinetics and recombinant protein methodology; and a demonstrated record
of solid publications in insect biochemistry and molecular biology. To
