Description:
The Surgical Outcomes Research Centre (SOuRCe) is a conjoint, academic
research unit that is operated by the University of Sydney's School of
Public Health, and Sydney South West Area Health Service. Based at
Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, SOuRCe undertakes multidisciplinary
clinical and health services research that aims to improve outcomes
for surgical patients.
The Cancer Institute recently awarded The Surgical Outcomes Research
Centre (SOuRCe) with a grant for the CONNECT Program; an innovative
research project that will improve care coordination and patient
outcomes for people who have surgery for colorectal cancer. This
program is dependent on ground breaking research; a large multi-
centred trial that will investigate the unique arena of cancer care,
and potentially alter the ways in which care is provided.
SOuRCe is currently seeking a proactive and ambitious Senior Program
Manager to lead and support CONNECT; undertaking high-quality health
services research, and managing the programs day-to-day functions.
Furthermore, you will be encouraged to recommend and create innovative
new tools, software and questionnaires, as well as identify and
develop additional avenues of research that will further enhance to
program.
As an integral member of a leading research group; you will make a
significant contribution to the development of the team. A confident
communicator who can influence and motivate others, you will
participate in professional learning and development activities, and
strive to build a positive and productive team environment. Equally
important in this role will be your exceptional problem-solving and
analytical skills, and ability to manage a high-volume workload within
tight deadlines.
To succeed, you will have a PhD relevant to health services or applied
epidemiology, as well as solid experience in epidemiology and
quantitative health services or clinical research. Expertise in the
design and delivery of original research will be essential, as will a
demonstrated history of publication, and an aptitude for project
management and research presentations. Some knowledge of statistical
software packages, statistics and/or statistical analysis will also be
required.

The position is full-time fixed term for three years, subject to the
completion of a satisfactory probation period for new appointees.
There is a possibility of further offers of employment, subject to
funding and need. Membership of a University approved superannuation
scheme is a condition of employment for new appointees.
Remuneration package: $83,363 - $98,993 p.a. (which includes a base
salary Lecturer Level B $70,443 - $83,651 p.a., leave loading and up
to 17% employer's contribution to superannuation)
