[Employment] Research Associate position at Kansas State University

We are looking for a highly qualified Research Associate who has
substantial expertise with research and direct handling of rodents, to
include injections, surgeries, and evaluations.   Our focus is on the
use of novel siRNAs to treat ocular retinoblastoma.  The main lab
techniques used include western blots, PCR, confocal and electron
microscopy and basic biochemical and molecular biological techniques.

This is an NIH grant-funded position and is available from July 2009
for one year with one additional year possible.  Candidate must be
available to start work by no later than August 2009.

Kansas State University is a land grant university with over 15,000
students and is in Manhattan, KS.

Job Requirements:
Candidate must have a DVM or Ph.D in Biochemistry, Biology or a
closely related field, and have a substantial background in small
animal research.  Prior experience with PCR, rodent genotyping,
western blots, and histology and confocal microscopy is required.
Candidates should be able to work independently and be able to direct
a project involving substantial work with animals to include
injections, surgery, evaluations, and follow up histology and confocal
microscopy.   Candidate must have demonstrated interest in the fields
of either ophthalmology or oncology and have publications which
demonstrate their research expertise. Good oral and written English
skills and ability to start by August 2009 is a must.  Experience with
cell culture, molecular biology techniques and enzyme assays is
preferred.
