Director, Virology/Immunology

Position Summary: Directs all activities within the department of
Virology/Immunology. Responsibilities include management of
departmental staff, Government Contracts, Commercial Services and
Products, including establishment and maintenance of virological and
immunological assays and services. Maintains high quality standards
for department activities in keeping with ISO regulations and supports
GMP manufacture and characterization of virus isolates and assays.
Actively pursues acquisition of new relevant technologies with a view
of expanding BioServices' capabilities in responding to new contract
service and product opportunities. Interacts regularly with directors
from other departments to coordinate projects that require the
participation of Virology/Immunology. Assists in the establishment of
new business opportunities that require the participation of Virology/
Immunology support. This position is a member of the Department Senior
Management group and as such holds a critical role with regards to
responsibility and accountability to the successful running of the
business, including the work environment at the facility.

Requirements: Must have a strong technical background and a Ph.D. in
Virology, Immunology or a related discipline. In addition, required to
have a minimum of 6 years prior experience in a similar industry,
preferably in a senior level management role at a biotechnology firm.
Must have demonstrated expertise in management of staff, in his/her
discipline, as well as solid understanding of current GMP and GLP
standards. Excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational and
multi-tasking skills required. Confidentiality, excellent use of
judgment and discretion required relative to sensitive and restricted
