The Marine Biological Laboratory and Exon-Intron, Inc.
are offering two one-week workshops on Recombinant DNA
methodology at the MBL for 20 students each.
The first workshop (June 29-July 3, 1992) will be a
basic course consisting of lecture and extensive
hands-on laboratory exercises covering: isolation of
plasmids, isolation of genomic DNA, bacterial
transformation, restriction enzyme digestion, agarose
gel electrophoresis, isolation of cytoplasmic RNA,
Southern transfer, synthesis of nucleic acid probes,
purification of poly(A) RNA, and dot blot analysis.
The second workshop (July 6 - July 10, 1992) will cover
more advanced topics including: cloning, cellular RNA
isolation, nucleic acid probe synthesis, Northern
transfer, Southern transfer, and the polymerase chain
reaction (PCR).
