New prototype newsgroup for YACs

At the request of Joe Ecker and others who attended an NCHGR-sponsored
meeting on YACs a few months ago, we have created a new prototype
newsgroup (i.e., just a mailing list) for Yeast Artificial
Chromosomes.

This list will operate only by e-mail (not on USENET) and only from
net.bio.net in the U.S. (not from daresbury.ac.uk in the U.K.) for six
months to see if it can build up sufficient usage to pass a vote for
full newsgroup status.

If you are interested in participating, please send your request for
an e-mail subscription to the YAC list to

			  biosci at net.bio.net

All requests for YAC should be sent to the above address regardless of
your geographical location.

If you want to post *messages* to the YAC group (BUT NOT SUBSCRIPTION
REQUESTS!!!!), the mailing address is yac at net.bio.net.  Again, please
address subscription requests to biosci at net.bio.net and scientific
correspondence to yac at net.bio.net.
