        XIIIth Washington International Spring Symposium
                     May 10-14, 1993
              The George Washington University

Topic:  THE CELL CYCLE:  REGULATORS, TARGETS AND CLINICAL APPLICATIONS

     The symposium will include talks by invited speakers as well as
contributed oral and poster presentations in following major areas of
research:

1.  G0/G1 transition
2.  G1/S transition (control of DNA replication, etc.)
3.  mitosis: induction and mechanics  (regulation of mitosis and changes
         in cell architecture)
4.  cell cycle-dependent transcription/ post-transcriptional regulation
5.  cell cycle regulaton in development (embryogenesis, differentiation,
          senescence, apoptosis)
6.  cell cycle regulation in carcinogenesis and other diseases
7.  clinical applications of cell cycle analysis and intervention


      Plenary speakers are J. C. Barrett, David Beach, David Brautigan, Melanie
Cobb, Michael Czech, Guilio Draetta, Alan Eastman, Lazaro Gershenson,
Nathaniel Heintz, Lee Johnson, Kurt Kohn, Amy Lee, Arnold Levine, Werner
Loewenstein, Robert Margolis, W. Gillies Mckenna, Joseph Nevins, Patrick
O'Farrell, Arthur Pardee, Steven Patierno, Jonathan Pines, Helen Piwnica-Worms,
Ruth Sager, Robert Schlegel, Charles Sherr, Gretchen Stein, George Vande Woude,
Eugenia Wang, Ted Weinert, Katherine Wilson.

      The keynote addresses are Dr. Tim Hunt and Dr. James Maller.
