The University of Chicago Summer Session Office is offering a course in
Recombinant DNA Technology:

BioSci 279:
Workshop in Recombinant DNA Technology
to be held June 21-June 25,
meeting M, T, W, Th, F from 8:30a.m.-5:00p.m.

These are credit-earning courses that will satisfy University of Chicago
BioSci course requirements!!!

Description: These courses will introduce methods used for producing and
analyzing recombinant-DNA molecules, along with the major concepts and
theories behind the experimental techniques. Students will gain hands-on
experience in such methods as microbial culture, gel electrophoresis, DNA
restriction analysis, DNA ligation, bacterial transformation, plasmid
isolation and DNA/Protein Sequence Analsysis. Group discussions will
address the personal, social, and political implications of this
technology. Seminars presented by practicing researchers will illustrate
the application of molecular approaches in solving biological problems.
This course will be of interest to all students and teachers of biology,
particularly those wishing to update their knowledge in molecular biology.
No prerequisites are required, though a thorough grounding in biology will
be helpful.
