This symposium is organized by the Chinese University of Hong Kong,
the Hong Kong Society of Molecular Biology and Biochemistry and the
Hong Kong Government Industry Department. It aims to provide a forum
of discussion on the feasibility of a biotechnology industry in Hong
Kong. The major task of the Symposium is to introduce to our audience
the different aspects of the biotechnology business. Topics to be
discussed will include:
* Opportunities in biotechnology.
* Technological requirements and government regulations.
* Patent protection and patent infringement.
* Business development and ventures.
* Biotechnology infrastructure in Hong Kong.
* Experiences in China and other parts of Asia.
This symposium will provide a brief and yet comprehensive programme for people in Hong Kong and the Asia Pacific region to learn about biotechnology and be able to make a good judgement when the opportunity in investment arises.
