Ecology & Evolution: Want to Visit Southern California?

This notice announces CalTalk, an Internet based communication
system to facilitate bringing Ecology and Evolutionary Biology
seminar speakers to southern California.

CalTalk links a number of southern California universities together
to coordinate activities such as speaker sharing. Speaker sharing
is a way for us to keep seminar costs down. We have also found
that many visitors (especially from cold places) enjoy spending a
few days in our area.

So if you are headed to southern California sometime in the future
to give a talk and would like to speak at additional universities,
or if you would like to attract invitations to give seminars in
southern California, let CalTalk help.

Just send your name, position, institution, e-mail address, phone
number, dates available, and a title (or at least some keywords)
to the e-mail address below.Your information will be distributed
so that interested CalTalk participants may contact you.

In addition to speaker-sharing, CalTalk is trying to make sure that
people doing sabbaticals, postdocs, or otherwise visiting southern
California are being utilized as (inexpensive!) area speakers. If
you are in this category and are willing to drive to give a
talk, please send in your information. CalTalk will advertise
you as being available.

One final service: CalTalk maintains a gopher hole for storing
Ecology and Evolutionary Biology related seminar schedules for the
southern California area. This node can be found using the path:

USA -> California -> University of California - Irvine ->
Departmental Information Sources ->
Ecology and Evolutionary Biology ->
CalTalk -> Seminar Schedules

Current CalTalk participants are:

UC Irvine: Ecology and Evolutionary Biology
UC Riverside: Biology
UC Riverside: Botany and Plant Sciences
UC San Diego: Biology
UC Santa Barbara: Biology
San Diego State:  Biology
USC: Biological Sciences

So please use CalTalk! We welcome your participation.
